Venture Hall, Maine’s new innovation center and accelerator for high-growth, high-impact companies, announced it’s appointment of Steven Sperry as their first Entrepreneur in Residence. A vital part of Venture Hall’s startup education and support programs, the Entrepreneur in Residence will provide new founders practical insights gained from years of hands-on experience creating, managing and growing innovation-driven enterprises.
A Maine native, Steven’s startup career began nearly 30 years ago in Seattle when, after working on his PhD in physics, an unexpected turn of events led him to found a software company, Primus Knowledge Solutions, which IPO’d in 1999. After leading several more ventures, Steven turned his attention to mentoring startups before returning to Maine this year. “Having repeatedly navigated the full startup lifecycle from founding to venture funding, hiring, rapid growth and exit, we’re truly lucky to have Steven as an active part of our community,” said Mike Sobol, co-founder & CEO of Venture Hall. Steven is equally enthusiastic about the partnership, saying, “I’m excited to put my experience to work helping entrepreneurs realize their ambitions.”
As Entrepreneur in Residence, Steven will work directly with startups as well as the Venture Hall team to develop and deliver support programs that provide the most value to the Maine startup ecosystem. Building on the resources that are already providing value to Maine entrepreneurs, Venture Hall is working closely with complementary organizations to build greater capacity for entrepreneurs to launch and grow high-growth, high-impact companies.
Venture Hall is a Maine not-for-profit corporation providing educational instruction, mentorship and training to individuals and teams who are building innovation-driven enterprises. To improve their chances of success, Venture Hall works to convene the talent, capital and insight necessary to accelerate the growth of these unique enterprises.
